Finally, here are some thoughts for now…

  • Nutritionally, there really is no more perfect food for humans than an oyster, clam or any shellfish, really. They are great for boosting your immune system. Nutrient densities will support brain and body functions, keeping you as strong as possible.

  • There are dozens of ways to enjoy oysters. They need not be consumed raw and shucking isnt always required as shellfish are often opened with heat and many recipes call for pre-shucked product. Pre-shucked product is easily purchased and stored.

  • EVERYONE can and should learn how to shuck oysters and clams, and own the knives to do so. If ever there was a time, its now. And this will serve you well in the future as you will be able to enjoy oysters at home for as little as $75 when the same oyster would have an average cost of about $3 in a restaurant.

  • What a great time to lay off of the “Factory” and “Processed” meats which are contributing to obesity, heart disease and many more maladies which make is weak and vulnerable to viruses.

  • Helping growers move some inventory now will help them to NOT be stuck with over-sized oysters this summer and fall. Oysters will continue to grow. Those ready for harvest now, if not sold, will stay in the water and grow. There is not much of a market for oysters over 3” anymore so now is the time to enjoy what is ready for harvest.
